Bon Mang 2009!!!

Hi guys...As you all know our Bon Mang date is soon approaching..! this could either be a very good thing or very bad news.. depending on who you talk too. Our doan Truong for example is very old as you guys may all know. So that means he will not have the energy to ROCK this year...or will he. =D As we have seen last year, DMTT had set the bar quite high. Perhaps too high. We must make the tough decision sooner or later....and tha decision is as follows, " Should we make our Bon Mang huge this year?"....BE SURE TO VOTE! YOU GOT 3 WEEKS to do so... If you vote yes, you must do so with an oath that you will contribute every breath into making this Bon Mang memorable. If you vote no, you will also be relieving yourself of any obligation to produce yet another memorable DMTT Birthday. The reason why this blog post evvn exists is because I have come to the realization that "we"..(i.e, Dung, Anh Phuong, Julie, Anh Phong, Chi, Hai, and others) can not do it alone!....especially this year! Anh Phong is pursuing his masters degree, Anh phuong has work, I have summer school, etc....So that means we need NEW leadership to take charge and contribute in any way possible....PLEASE REPLY to this blog with ideas on designs, themes, shows, etc...of this years bon mang if you have any!...ur voice will be heard! Long Live DMTT! =D

DMTT FINALs Xperience...

We Survived!

Hey guys, as you all know....We Survived the Finals Last Saturday....Nganh Au did really well, One kid suffered an eye infection during the test...but she kept going until it was done.! Others worried that they didn't know something and was afraid to write I DON"T KNOW on the blanks.!! But overall Nganh Au did really well, with a few cheaters in the crowd!....

Nganh Thieu, Ahhh.. tisk tisk tisk.. JK! for cap 2 kids..you guys rocked!! Amy, Mary..cough cough...Alex..you fail! =D. I saw a sincere effort by the Nganh Thieu kids, some quit, some cried..but over all most survived.! rumour has it that Tr. Duong was a big softy on his practical examination..Tr. Viet was a meany..saying things like "Congrats, you got strait ZEROS!", and Tr. Khanh (our boss!)...Well he is strict of course. =D

As for nganh Nghia....LOL!!!! They suck period. The "smarter kids" didn't show up...So the dumb ones had to take the test! They took an hour to almost finish the written exam...and as for practical...Tr. Trang (our other boss)...Asked the boys to tie a basical knot...Hoang put the rope around his neck an attempted to hang himself...Hau (he perfers to be called micheal) copied hoang afterwards.....As for the new vietnamese kid, he made up his own knot! and presented to Tr. Trang and said..here you go, with a big smile on his face i might add! .....overall..That day was a very entertaining day!...

What role does God play in your life?

A couple of weeks ago, when I was at bible study, we were going around talking about things that happened to us, and sharing prayer requests..and one of the bible study leaders (Terry) talked about an incident that happened to her that day.
She ran into a friend (let's name her Melissa) who was with one of her guy friends(let's name him David) and they all decided to have lunch together. So the situation was: Just that day David made a decision to stop believing in God due to something that happened to him. And Melissa wanted to convince him otherwise, and she was hoping maybe Terry could help, even though she didn't know David too well. But Terry was hesitant, she didn't know how to bring about the subject to someone who was practically a stranger without being awkward, and she didn't know what to say that would make him even reconsider God again. I'm not sure exactly how the lunch ended but, I don't think much conversation arose eventually.
So let's asses, there's two topics to cover, but first a disclaimer: I am not using my Christian values as justification for my judgments, but am merely questioning the actions of others to further understand the nature of them, and perhaps apply them to my own life as lessons to learn.
1. What happened that could possibly lead David to such an important decision?
His girlfriend & he (this already sounds illegitimate right?) were going through a really difficult time & so he prayed and prayed for them to stay together but it didn't happen. What adds to this is that it was because of her that he decided to come out to church. (btw, he's presbyterian, so a different denomination of Christianity, but that doesn't matter much) Now, what do you think, was he irrational? Personally, YES. He completely, COMPLETELY missed the point of Christianity, of prayer, and let his desires take the best of him. In doing this, he allows others to summarize his Christian life as basically just going into the religion to have one more thing in common with his girlfriend. Okay, maybe that is a bit harsh, but hello, there are reasons for everything, and it is probably not coincidental that he met his Christian girlfriend, and was introduced to Christ. Things will work out for him, with or without his girlfriend, and now that he let go of that faith, who will watch over him now that he's lost one thing? I probably don't know the degree of the situation, and probably have a Christian bias, but when I heard about this story, I was appalled by how someone could make a rash decision based off of God's "unresponsiveness." Being mad at God will further blind him from any answers that God does give.
2. The second issue may not seem as obvious as the first, but it has to do with Terry's hesitation to speak about God.
How often do we hesitate to speak of his name, are we ashamed? Or are we scared of rejection? Really, it ultimately comes down to those questions, and most of the time, it's the latter one that really applies to us. If God was priority, why do our actions prove otherwise? Even if it's something as small as missing a youth group event because there's isn't any time. If God was priority, our schedules would revolve around him, and agenda around church, not the other way around, right? Not, "oh from 3-5 I'm not doing anything, I guess I'll go to TN." We do not realize how often we reject God, and how small someone else's rejection to us is compared to if we were to be rejected by God.
Now I'm not criticizing what Terry did, honestly, I would probably do that same. I think I might find it awkward to talk about God to someone like David, heck I might even say that since he's not happy with God, bringing up the subject might not be a good idea then and there. But it just leads to me question myself and how often I feel scared to speak about God because of what judgments may cross other people's minds.
Ultimately though, God accepts everyone, and he never changes his mind about anyone--that we have the ability to change. He welcomes sinners as long as they have a willing heart.
So I'm going to end with a verse, from Luke 18, where a blind man approaches Jesus on his way to Jericho asking for his sight to be restored. "And Jesus said to him ' Receive your sight, your faith has healed you.'"
Perhaps David will be in less "pain" if he had faith in God's plan.

Thanks for reading!! HW TIMEEE EEEE.
Miss ya'll! <3
