Woah, does anyone even read this anymore? Alright, I think I'm going to make this into a habit. Maybe it'll help me stay up during my morning Philosophy lectures. X.x
Alright, subject of the day: approaching people.
I had a cup of coffee this morning before my presentation for my Film - Beginning Sequences class, and boy did it keep me awake. I realized I stop drinking coffee every morning after Senior year since my butterfly thermos broke (yea, thanks Diann! x.X) But anyway, maybe I should drink coffee more often, cause I felt good through out the whole day. Definitely absorbed more.
Anyway, my film class had about 7 kids in there, before my partner and I presented, there was this little asian boy that was sitting in the middle row who asked me if I wanted to go before him since he was presenting on the same day. He helped me plug in the audio input (stupid me. I couldn't figure out why the audio wasn't working x.X I decided that I wanted to get my presentation over with. Anyway, I actually payed attention when he presented, and he was definitely an interesting person. You know, sometimes people just stand out. Not because they're cute or anything, but the way he spoke, how he smirked whenever he messed up and his comments on the teachers comments made me want to talk to him, knowing that he probably was a very interesting person to share thoughts with. While he was presenting I was trying to read what type of person he was through his expressions, the way he spoke, the words he used and his body language and I decided that he was someone smart with a slight smartass-ness to him, but regardless I convinced myself that I would approach him after class and start a conversation. Just because. So he finished presenting and class was over, but my presentation partner walked with me and so I didn't get to my approach.
I thought about this afterward and I thought about the many times when I did have an opportunity to approach someone interesting, but I didn't because I was afraid they might judge me-- or i was just too shy, or lacked the confidence to. Then I thought about this in another perspective. If I was someone who someone else wanted to approach, would I think they're creepy for approaching me? I think that anyone with the balls to approach me like that deserves at least a decent conversation (given that they're.. normal and not.. freaky stalker-like.) But then again, when it comes to girls approaching guys, I think it's entirely different from guys approaching girls. I don't know.
I was telling Viet the other day though about initiation. I think that the toughest part about starting a relationship with someone who you dont' know is introducing yourself. I think the initial part of doing anything is the hardest. For example.. raising your hand.. for anything. Once your hand is up in the air, you're kind of forced to say something, even if you dont' have anything to say. Saying "HI." is another one. Something as simple as "hi" can open doors to unimaginable relationships, but yet people don't do it because of the fear of rejection. But then again, who rejects "hi"?
Regarding relationships, people are always asking me why they're not in a relationship, why isnt' there someone out there for them.. my reply is that it's they're fault for not having the balls to initiate. As a girl, I honestly think that confidence is key. Anybody has a possibility to start any type of relationship with anyone, given that they share commonalities and interests.
alright class over.. bye :]
